Pillars of Sisterhood is a contemporary interpretation of the ancient Caryatids—the sculpted maidens who have stood upon the Erechtheion in Athens for over two millennia as enduring symbols of grace, resilience, and strength. While the original monument is supported by six figures, this work intentionally presents four sisters, reflecting the artist's own connection to sisterhood and the unbreakable bonds that shape our lives.
Emerging from an infinite blackness, the figures are revealed only where light gently touches their forms. This restrained interplay of light and shadow strips the sculptures back to their essence, allowing the beauty of form, presence, and human connection to speak without distraction. The monochromatic palette transforms stone into something timeless, where the boundaries between sculpture, memory, and emotion begin to dissolve.
For centuries, the Caryatids have carried the weight of architecture. In Pillars of Sisterhood, that physical burden becomes a metaphor for the quiet strength shared between sisters—the unseen ways they support, guide, protect, and uplift one another throughout life's journey. Their stillness is not one of silence, but of enduring resilience; a reminder that true strength often reveals itself not through force, but through steadfast presence.
As part of the Eternal Forms collection, this work explores the permanence of the relationships that define us. While time erodes stone and civilizations fade into history, the values embodied by sisterhood—love, loyalty, compassion, and unwavering support—remain constant across generations. The four figures stand together as timeless guardians of these ideals, representing the enduring foundations upon which families, friendships, and communities are built.
Pillars of Sisterhood is both a tribute to one of antiquity's most iconic sculptural masterpieces and a deeply personal reflection on the strength found in unity. It invites the viewer to consider the people who have stood beside them, carried them through life's challenges, and become the pillars upon which their own story rests.
